SUZANNE SLATCHER is an animation director and creative technologist.
She directs commercials, short films and animated sequences for documentaries.

As the CTO of Ryzo Studios she’s embracing next-gen production technologies as part of an ever evolving pipeline allowing filmmakers to focus creative energies on the artistic aspects of storytelling.

At Pixar she specialized in traditional camera work and sets modeling, creating iconic sequences and environments on Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Up, Toy Story 3, and more. After nearly a decade at the studio, she co-founded The Good Bean, a healthy snack food company, applying her visual storytelling expertise to brand-building in the food industry.

At the core of it all is her love of animation’s chaos and possibility. It’s a medium where physics are optional, styles clash gloriously, and entire worlds can be conjured from a sketch and a hunch. Whether working with torn paper, digital puppets, or procedurally generated geometry, Slatcher thrives in the joyful collision of ideas, aesthetics, and invention that defines the animated form.

As animation technology accelerates, Slatcher sees this moment as one of the most thrilling in the medium’s history. Immersive and interactive media are creating new opportunities for storytelling, the cost barriers to quality animation are lowering, and decentralized content distribution has expanded, allowing independent creators and small studios to compete with industry giants.

These are exciting times in animated storytelling and I’m here for it!
